As of April 2021, Jiangsu has 13 national historic and cultural cities and 5 historic and cultural cities in Jiangsu Province, 32 historic and cultural towns in China and Jiangsu Province, and 5 historic and cultural districts in China, ranking first in the country in the number of national historic and cultural cities, Chinese historic and cultural towns and Chinese historic and cultural districts.

Nanjing
Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province, located in the eastern part of China, downstream of the Yangtze River, near the river and the sea. Nanjing is one of the first national historical and cultural cities, an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, with a civilization history of more than 7,000 years.

Yangzhou
Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, Yangzhou is the world capital of gastronomy, the world capital of canals, the capital of East Asian culture, the first batch of national historical and cultural cities and a scenic tourist city with traditional characteristics. The history of the city dates back to 486 B.C. The Yangzhou section of the Grand Canal of China was selected as a World Heritage Site; Yangzhou was included in the China Maritime Silk Road.
